We don't need a TITLE to be a GIVER

When Bob and Sam put together an educational segment, you can be sure that it has POP...it is edgy but easy to comprehend.  It has depth, which will cause you to look inside yourself to understand it.  The best part about hearing a lesson, lecture or segment from them (either of them), is that it can be a very simple message with very far reaching content.

Today I would like to share with you about some literature that these two founders have been discussing and considering.

Recently, Sam has shared with me and Bob about the principles in this book, Tribal Leadership.  I am reporting from the perspective shared to me by Sam Lemay.  And As I write this, I find it amusing to discover that there was not one, but rather 3 known authors of this book!  A concept we mirror in our quadrangle foundership at CBA.  A long time ago (about a year ago) I myself had a vision of creating a group like this.  Then I discovered that Sam and Berta also had the same vision.  Sam then introduced me to another person who had the same vision and that was Bob Coderre.  When the four of us talked to one another we realized that if we were here, then others also needed this.  We were right, clearly, because the people have come together both on the meetup site and in person for our meetings.  As an additional boost, Bob suggested we add a weekly conference call to our routine and so we have been doing this on Fridays.  This Friday, Novemeber 25th (Black Friday), we shall have our second conference call.
These calls are a place to gain inspiration from others and their journey of self improvement.  It can be the needed boost just to hear from another group member about how what they are reading is impacting them.

So now, about the book Tribal Leadership, there are principles to creating an organization.  I like to refer to them as the "hows".  How we build what we build, matters.  It is commonly said that the ends justify the means.  In our opinion that would be false.  If we acquire status without being worthy, we as a group will fail.  Here is an inspirational excerpt:

From the book "Tribal Leadership" by Dave Logan, John King & Halee Fischer-Wright

"One of the most common misconceptions we heard in our research is that values is a topic for organizations that have a lot of money, and that struggling organizations should focus on day-to-day tactics of survival instead. Almost without exception, we found that wildly successful organizations talked about values when it appeared that they could least afford to do so. IDEO, Amgen, and CB Richard Ellis's Private Client Group all started with a common set of values, either by luck or design. Amgen was fortunate to have started as a culture dominated by scientists eager to collaborate, so their culture reflected science-based inquiry, competition, teamwork, creating value, ensuring quality, collaboration, and communication, and being ethical - the eight values that continue to lead the company." Pg 152-153.

They referenced their website which has some tools to discover values: www.triballeadership.net

I would like to credit Sam for finding the quote and submitting it.

So what can we learn from this business model?  Well, some of us have a knack for business.  Some of us don't.  Others among us will have a special ability with balancing numbers while another will be a writer or artist.  This is why pooling our talents is essential.  Let's talk for a moment about Bob Coderre.  I personally have only known him a short time but I have learned that Bob is a man who makes his words heavy with value for his listener.  He does not speak idly.  He is richly informative, sharing what will be beneficial for his listener.  I am a fact-seeker so everytime he shares something with me I immediately check the facts.  I laugh at myself each time because of the accuracy of his information!  He offers detail and background and cuts to the most inspiring part of the story.  Most significantly, when Bob shares, he often details the life of some person living today who is doing something to make the world a better place.  To sit and listen to Bob is to gain a wealth of inspiration and knowledge.  In my opinion, this is what a teacher is.

Please note that I have modified our blog to include a section at the bottom where there will be a compilation of Bob's favorite Book and ebooks.  whenever possible we will include a link to them.  If you have any trouble finding any of these books or other books that you are interested in reading, please do not hesitate to contact us on our email or send us a message on our meetup site!  The sidebar links you see on the blog will connect you to some awesome organizations!

Thanks for reading.  CONCEIVE...Believe...Achieve!
